Coffee & cake, and a bit of football practise

Mummy decided to take us out for a little treat this afternoon so we headed down to the Royal Quays for coffee & cake! Later Daddy and I played football in the garden. Lovely day!

Sunflower progress: taller than me!

The sunflowers we planted are growing really well - so much so that they're now actually taller than me! They're getting lots of water & sunshine so it won't be long before the flowers appear I reckon!

Taking Mickey for an adventure walk!

Daddy and I were off work/school today as the school was closed for teacher training so we decided to take Mickey for a long walk, along to Earsdon and back home through the fields. He was worn out by the time we got home! I also collected some fairy clocks for mummy.

Brian the robot!

Nanna brought me a great present today - it was Brian the robot from the Confused.com adverts! You can press his belly and he even talks & speeds around on his little wheels! Thanks nanna! xxx

Lunch & some window shopping!

After our exciting trip to the castle Daddy and I went to find somewhere to eat. I spotted Yo Sushi across the street & neither of us could resist a bit of sushi!

As we ate I spotted guitars in a window across the street! With Daddy's help I'm trying to learn the guitar so I was really eager to look around in an actual guitar shop! They were all so beautiful, but really expensive! I did however have my eye on a rather fetching, pink ukulele...!

Trip out to see Newcastle castle!

Today was going to be a great day! Last night, Daddy and I decided to go and see the castle in Newcastle. A real life castle! Daddy picked me up from Stage School and we headed straight for the Metro to catch the train to Newcastle. On the journey I explained that in the very olden days they used to make castles from wood but later they made them from bricks because that was stronger. Daddy confirmed this was also true of the Newcastle castle.

Ahh, so that's how Newcastle got its name! In 1080 they built a New Castle!

When we arrived, Daddy had a little surprise for me. We walked into Central Station and towards the ticket office. I was a little confused but then Daddy asked me to turn round, and there it was! The castle!

We then walked the short journey round the corner towards the castle. I couldn't wait to get there and see it! When we walked round the corner I wasn't disappointed. It looked AMAZING!!

First we went to Black Gate which was the old gate house for the castle. We made arrangements to go inside the castle. First we looked around the display of old bit & pieces they've found in the ground around the castle over the years; old belt buckles, Roman coins, arrow heads and even some of the rubbish people would throw in the moat when the castle was no longer used for defending the city.

We walked around the various rooms in the castle, often getting lost along the way (!) and we marvelled at the sleeping chambers, the chapel and the great hall. We made our way to the spiral staircase and made our way up... It was a long way: 99 steps in total. Along the way we saw some arrow slit windows that the knights used to fire arrows from as well as some rooms that were used as prisons. One even had a toilet in so it must have been for someone important.

We finally made it to the top and on to the roof! What a view! I didn't realise at first how high up we were but from where we stood all the cars, trains and especially the people, looked tiny all the way down there!

A fantastic day out, great school research, & a must-see if you're ever visiting Newcastle! x

Good day at school!

Today was an extra good day at school. We've been learning about castles and we've been making castles out of household junk! On the way home Daddy promised to take me to see a real life castle! So exciting!

I also got some awards at school today: Star of the Day, Great Dancer, AND Super Speller! I got 10/10 in my spelling test today!

Auntie Kirsty's birthday!

It was Auntie Kirsty's birthday today so we all headed down to the Fish Quay in North Shields for some lunch. It was a lovely afternoon so it was a shame we couldn't sit outside! Lori & I had the Sunday lunch whilst Daddy tried the monkfish. I think he was a little disappointed it wasn't a bit bigger! Kirsty opened her presents and Nanna had made a lovely birthday cake which the waitress brought out so Auntie Kirsty could blow out the candles!

Lovely day out!

Happy birthday Auntie Kirsty! x

Doing the Junior Parkrun!

Mummy and Daddy have started doing the Parkrun again, and although the Saturday one is too far for me (5K) Lori & I were persuaded to do the Junior Parkrun the following day. So, we headed down to Whitley Bay Promenade for the 2K version. It was tough going but we made it to the end and our times made it on to the website: 15 mins 37 for me and 16 mins 04 for Lori! We fancy breaking our PBs next weekend...

Starting to learn the guitar

I wanted to start to learn the guitar so Daddy presented me with the guitar his Daddy (Grandad Keith) gave to him when he was 6! This lovely short-scale acoustic guitar which Daddy said I could have if I promise to really take a good care of it. I certainly will!

As you can see I might need a few more lessons but Daddy's promised to show me more things to practise!
